Featured in the forthcoming RIBA London region exhibition ‘Recreation by Design’ , 4th June - 30th June, is a small community project we have designed for a 'youth shelter', that demonstrates that good design can still be achieved on a tight budget.
Our aim was to respond to the difficult challenge of creating a sense of place for teenagers within an inner city urban park. We all know that our teenage years are a difficult period when we struggle to define our sense of place in the world. The playground is one of the few places that offers a refuge from adult control but so often there is nowhere within the playground that teenagers can claim as their own.
