The second generation of a Chinese family want to take over the business and turn the existing traditional Chinese restaurant into a much larger 'Zen' style fusion restaurant .
We were asked to maximise the development potential of the restaurant, but also to convert and extend an extra level of accommodation to provide 4 levels of flats above the restaurant , each level to provide a home for each member of the family group .
As well as dealing with a large family group as client, this project has presented a whole range of other challenges. The site is a difficult landlocked site, involving complex issues such as rights of light and party wall matters.
